The Université du Québec en Outaouais's family psychosocial health evaluation and research laboratory is called the At the Heart of Families Lab. Its activities are established in coordination with clinical practice environments. The laboratory's mission includes promotion of family health, parent-child relationships and conjugal relationships, as well as prevention of psychosocial health problems, for example, parents' mental health problems, as well as mistreatment and neglect of children. Diagnosing and treating these problems by implementing professional practices with respect to fathers and their families are also among the laboratory's objectives.

The At the Heart of Families Lab is managed and directed by Professor Francine de Montigny, holder of the Canadian Research Chair in Family Psychosocial Health. When their projects and objectives are consistent with those of the Chair, its infrastructure is made available to the CERIF's regular researchers and their partners in clinical practice environments.
