The mission of the Father Friendly Initiative within Families (FFIF) is to promote fathers’ engagement with children, within families and communities. To do this, the project supports the entire health, social services, and education network involved with parents and their children in finding innovative and effective interventions for fathers and their families.
The FFIF’s originality is that it is not about doing more, for example by implementing a structured program. Rather, it provides opportunities for practitioners do learn to do things differently. The FFIF is aimed at practitioners in any field working with children under the age of six and their families, whether or not the clientele is exposed to psychosocial risk factors (contexts of poverty, negligence, or recent immigration) or contextual ones (breastfeeding, perinatal death).
